Flashback Friday #4: Finley's Heroes LP
I hadn't purchased an LP Vinyl Record in over 15 years. Heck... it's been over 10 years since I owned my last turntable.
Then... last weekend a buddy and I headed over to Streetlight Records to kill some time. They have a huge variety of new and used CD's, DVD's, VHS movies, and LP's. Most of their stuff is sort of pricey... so I usually find what I want there, then head over to Amazon to buy it.
However... I found this on my latest outing:
It's an LP called Finley's Heroes that celebrates the Oakland A's 1972 championship season. I've seen them before at the flea market and have considered picking one up... but the records always have scratches or the cover is in bad condition.
This copy was brand new... still in the plastic wrapper. Best of all... it only set me back $5 and some change.
The cover artwork depicts Jim Hunter, Rollie Fingers, Joe Rudi, Gene Tenace, Bert Campaneris, and manager Dick Williams. It's too cool of a cover to let sit in a box, so I immediately headed to Michael's and purchased an album cover frame. I had to do some shuffling... but it's now officially a member of my Wall of Fame:
I kept it in the wrapper, but if you're interested in listening to the album... click here.
Today's question of the day:
What's your favorite album cover artwork?
Here's mine:
Okay... so I cheated and used my CD cover. But my album collection is currently gathering dust in my buddy's garage and my guess is he's still at work. It doesn't change the fact that this album cover is awesome.
Happy Friday everyone... I hope all of you have a safe holiday weekend. Sayonara!
