Default Cam Newton Sets Rookie Passing Record

Newton breaks Manning's rookie passing record - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

Quote:
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton broke Peyton Manning’s single-season rookie record for most yards passing in a season Saturday.

Manning’s record was 3,379 yards.

Newton came in needing 18 yards to break the record and did it with a 7-yard completion to Brandon LaFell on the game’s first drive. Newton was 3 for 3 on the opening drive for 20 yards as the Panthers scored on a nine-play, 80-yard touchdown drive.

I was surprised as to how well he did out the gate given his issues at college. Hopefully that is out of his system and he will excel on the pro level.

Have to give the guy his due - he was great this year. There were many people who didn't think he could be an average QB in the NFL. I think he proved he could be that and more!
