  • New Collector Wondering about Hobby Boxes

Hi I'm a new collector and have been putting together a nice collection of players that I follow. Lately I've been watching videos of people opening their favorite hobby box and think that it looks like a very fun part of the hobby. Im now interested in purchasing a hobby box and am unsure about some of the more fun brands are to open. I'm in this more for the enjoyment factor than the investment factor and am looking to stay at 100 or below for the price of the hobby box. I've read some of the reviews and am interested in the Topps Heritage, Allen and Ginter, and Bowman Chrome. Does anyone have any opinions on either of these three hobby boxes?

I would go bowman, ginter, heritage. But I think price wise it is heritage, ginter, bowman, lowest to highest. I don't have much of a calling for baseball so I buy cases of football mainly.

Ginter is probably the most fun, given the wide array of subjects. 1 box of Heritage won't get you near a complete set and it's mostly geared toward set builders, so unless you really dig the Topps design of the early sixties, stay away. Bowman is my favorite, Bowman products have given me great returns consistently, and I'm into prospects so that's where it's at for me. Good luck, and if you go Ginter, make sure to treat the boxtop with care, they randomly inserted glossy 1/1s in the boxtops this year.

Depends on your liking rather you like inserts, parallels & enjoy or want to start trading. Topps is always good for inserts & parallels but the amount of base is unbelievable especially if you aren't building the set. I just bought '14 Topps Series 1 & a box of '13 Topps Gypsy Queen last month mainly for the insert & such because I like to trade a lot. For the products that are $100 & up I just scour eBay or the forums for the cards of stars or PC wants I want from those sets. Good luck & happy collecting!
