  • How To Fix The New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets

I see several articles on different sites about how to fix a certain NBA team. I will post a few of these up every week to get members opinion on them. I am mainly going to do some of the lottery teams since it can bring upon some good discussion and laughs.

    Draft History - First Round
    2004 - None
    2005 - Antoine Wright
2006 - Marcus Williams, Josh Boone
    2007 - Sean Williams
2008 - Brook Lopez, Ryan Anderson
    2009 - Terrence Williams
2010 - Derrick Favors, Damion James
    2011 - Marshon Brooks
    2012 - None

The Nets screwed themselves big time. The draft selections of Antoine Wright, Marcus Williams, Josh Boone, Sean Williams, and Terrence Williams did not pan out for the team. Brook Lopez is the best player they drafted in the last 8 years. They wanted to get rid of Vince Carter so bad they tossed in Ryan Anderson for free. The way Anderson played last season when he got starter minutes, the Nets must be kicking themselves. Marshon Brooks had a pretty good year last season. Yes they did get a superstar in Deron Williams, but they gave up Derrick Favors and 3 Future First Round Picks for him.

Deron is a free agent this summer and odds are will be leaving most likely to Dallas. Since the Nets couldnt trade for Dwight Howard, they traded a First Round Pick (#6 Pick this year) for 2 months of Gerald Wallace. Wallace opted out and is also a free agent. The Nets are a complete mess. They are moving to a new arena and city, and may not end up with one All Star on their roster next season. With Deron and Wallace soon to be gone, Brook Lopez becomes their main player. Kris Humphries is decent, but they should not be paying him more than $7 million per year. Giving him a multi year deal would be a mistake. They should tank the next few seasons and let players like Brook Lopez, Marshon Brooks, Anthony Morrow, and Gerald Green get majority of the minutes and shots. And LOL that the Nets have the old Lakers bench of Jordan Farmar and Sasha Vujacic.

Don't be surprised if they actually get Dwight. He is definitely going to be moved this summer.

So in the last 2 months, the Nets have resigned Deron Williams & Kris Humphries, gave too much money to resign Brook Lopez & Gerald Wallace, traded for the worst contract in the NBA in Joe Johnson, traded for Reggie Evans, and signed Keith Bogans, Jerry Stackhouse, & C.J. Watson.

The Nets had a successful off season, even though they lost out on the Dwight Howard sweepstakes. This team should be a top 5 team in the East, but basically for the next 3-5 years this is the team they will be putting out on the floor since they are way over the salary cap right now.
