I decided to start a collection for my son who was born this year. So I decided to start with 2014-15 season since this is the season he was born in. I picked up a 2 hangar packs of Panini Prestige from target and 2 $20 boxes of Panini Prizm and few individual packs. I wanted to know if i'm purchasing the right cards. Will these hold value years from now? Should I look into different brands?

Prestige and Prizm are nice and 2 of my favorite basketball products from this year. It is too pricey to get at Target. Try EBAY to buy the whole set with the RCs.
As for who to collect. Andrew Wiggins and Zach Lavine are two rookies that you should get a collection of. Because Jabari Parker, Julius Randle, and Joel Embiid are injured this season, prices of their cards on EBAY are at a low point. You can get some great deals on them right now. When they come back next season, they will be worth a lot more and wont be as cheap to get then.
