Dez Bryant charged with domestic violence

Fox 4 News is reporting that Dez Bryant has been arrested and charged with misdemeanor domestic violence.
There are no further details on what exactly happened at this time, but Bryant has reportedly been released on bond. Set for a breakout season after announcing that he's both stronger and quicker, Cowboys GM/owner Jerry Jones recently praised Bryant for his maturity. Considering his checkered past, Bryant could now be a candidate for league discipline.

Police say Dez Bryant assaulted his mother by hitting her in the face with a baseball cap and pulling her shirt and hair.
Angela Bryant did not need to be taken to the hospital, but she did tell police she had pain and swelling as a result of the injuries. Dez has been booked on Class A family violence charge. Since it's his first official arrest -- and not a felony -- it's unclear if a suspension is looming. Dez's mother became a hot topic around the 2010 draft when Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland asked the talented prospect if his mother was a prostitute. She also spent 18 months in jail during Dez's childhood for selling crack cocaine.

Police have concluded their investigation into the Dez Bryant incident and have decided to move forward with charges.
DeSoto (TX) police will file a Class A misdemeanor family violence charge against Bryant at the Dallas D.A. office Friday. According to the incident report, Angela Bryant accused her son of grabbing her by the shirt and hair, hitting her in the face with his ballcap, striking her repeatedly in the hands and wrists, and pushing her in the chest. The released 911 call doesn't bode well for Bryant, either. We still wouldn't rule out discipline from the league office.
