  • Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch booked for DUI

Marshawn Lynch was arrested for driving under the influence in his hometown of Oakland Saturday.
Lynch was arrested after a traffic stop on the highway. Police say he submitted to a chemical test, which showed his BAC was over the .08 limit. They declined to reveal exactly what his level was. Lynch's checkered history with the law certainly makes him a likely candidate for suspension. His license was revoked in 2008 when he struck a woman with his car outside a Buffalo bar in 2008. He was also suspended for three games in 2009 after getting slapped with a misdemeanor weapons charge. If/when Lynch misses games, rookie Robert Turbin and Leon Washington are in-house candidates to fill in.

An NFL executive tells ESPN's Ross Tucker a suspension for conduct detrimental or substance abuse defaults Marshawn Lynch's four-year, $31 million contract and voids guaranteed money.
If true, it was a prudent move by Seattle, realizing the suspension risk inherent in locking up a player who had already run afoul of the league's personal conduct policy. The Seahawks brass may have to confer with ownership to determine the future of their offensive focal point after his recent DUI. The contract Lynch signed in March contains $17 million in guarantees.

Profootballtalk reports Marshawn Lynch's camp is confident the running back will not face NFL suspension in 2012 for his recent DUI arrest.
Whereas Lynch's previous three-game suspension was for violation of the personal conduct policy, the DUI falls under a separate substance-abuse policy. As a result, Lynch's representatives believe he will be suspended only if the commissioner finds "aggravating circumstances." Considering Roger Goodell's willingness to wield a wide suspension stick, that's certainly a possibility. The best news for Lynch's fantasy value is that he won't be disciplined by the league until the legal process plays out. That delay could conceivably push any suspension into the 2013 season.

With all of these players being arrested for DUI, drugs and domestic violence, and the NFL locking the refs out, will there be any season to watch? If my Rams can keep their noses clean, we might win the Superbowl!!!

Never mind. I just read that Rams Robert Quinn was arrested for DWI too. This might be the Buffalo Bills year.
