  • Titans give Wimbley new 3-year, $9M contract

Titans signed OLB Kam Wimbley to a new three-year, $9 million contract.
It's a rare savvy move by the Titans' front office. Wimbley was due a whopping $6 million salary, so he's essentially cutting that in half on this restructured deal. 30 years old, Wimbley's role was reduced last season, but he has a chance to make a leap forward under new DC Ray Horton, who is installing a 3-4 defense. Wimbley's best position is 3-4 outside linebacker. He'll compete for snaps with Akeem Ayers, Shaun Phillips, and perhaps Derrick Morgan, though it's unclear whether Morgan will be a defensive end, or is in Horton's plans at all.
