  • Cardboard Inheritance

Speechless. That's the best way to describe my reaction to the generosity and hospitality that flows through our cardboard community. It's to the point where I actually feel guilty receiving some of your packages, because they are so insanely charitable and thoughtful that I wonder if I'll ever be able to return the favor to the same extent.

Today's post centers around a collection of baseball cards I inherited from one of my readers. A few weeks ago I was contacted by a guy who also collects Japanese MLBers but is currently downsizing his collection to focus on more high-end cards. He wanted to send the rest to someone who would enjoy them as much as he did.

A few days later, I received a medium sized flat rate shipping box in the mail filled with a bunch of goodies. And simply put... it left me speechless. See for yourself:

Unreal, right? I had never seen a bunch of these cards before and there were over eight guys I had never even heard of.

I lost track of how many new cards were inserted into my Japanese MLBbinders, but there were easily 50 to 75 new additions including these awesome rookie cards:

Plus a stack of memorabilia cards and autographs:

There was even a printing plate included:

My very first Japanese MLBer printing plate!

Other over the top and outrageously generous cards include these 2008 and 2009 Topps Silkcards:

And these two Akiko Morigami cards:

    Wait... there's more. Here's a Kurt Suzuki Sweet Spotautograph I didn't have:

Anyone familiar with this set, understands what's going on here with the disappearing ink.

Last, but certainly not least was this really cool set of Kenny Powerstrading cards:

Never heard of Mr. Powers? He was the main character on HBO's Eastbound and Down. I had never seen the show before owning this set, but it inspired me to watch the first season this weekend.

There were hundreds of more cards in the package... but I spend over an hour scanning these cards alone and unfortunately it'd take weeks to show everything off. That's how loaded this collection was.

Thank you so much Junichi! You've definitely taken my Japanese PC to the next level.

    Happy Monday and sayonara!
