  • My 3rd. set arrived as promised!

    To my fellow forum members,

As promised in the "A big surprise in a retail product" thread, in which I previously posted that I had purchased 3 products and that only 2 was delivered. Well, I kept that promise to post my 3rd. item of which just arrived today, "2000 Pacific Crown Royale" die cut cards.

A unique and very outstanding set of football cards, this is just my humble opinion. The only other type of cards that come close to the Pacific brand was the set from 2012 Panini Crown Royale. In that product, all hobby base cards were cut identically like the 2000 Pacific Crown Royale, except the extremely low numbered non-die cut base cards. Those were special refractor numbered and colored coded cards that started from #/10, #/5, #/2, and ended with 1/1, according to the refractor color coded scheme. In the 2012 set, Panini also included 1 per every 700, the rare scarce Panini Cramers Choice Award triangle card, these were also introduced into the original 2000 Pacific Crown Royale. Why do I like this set in particular? Because of the unique shape and size of the cards not to mention the different variations, parallels, and inserts, of which Panini placed quite abundantly into the 2012 Royale. Not to mention the look as well as the beautiful design and concept.

I must admit that collectors either disliked these cards or loved them, there were no in betweens. As I've mentioned time and time again, I utilize my collecting rule in of that you, the collector must love the base cards. As we all know base cards are the meat and potato staple in a set. This set I purchased for $20.00 does not include the SP's like the rookie card of Tom Brady. Shit! I mean Aw shucks. That card alone would have been a nice addition to any collector. The total of this particular set equals 100 cards. Many forum members might consider this being too much money spent, I just love the design. Hence my purchase.

So lov'em or hat'em, please view my cards below.

    Toshi

Yes definitely a great set to grab. Pacific (and to a lesser degree Playoff) really pushed the envelope with the Crown Royale sets - (Playoff's big surprise "innovation" set was usually Contenders - they kicked it up with die cuts and mirror finishes etc (remember the Pennants and the Leather footballs as well as the open Field mirrors)

Pacific had all the cool Litho-Cel cards, Atomic Die Cuts and Prism cards...all parallelled to heck and back of course!!

Thank you azdbacks1998, there are other names that I didn't add like, Cris Carter, Randy Moss, Marshall Faulk, and many more old school Hall of Fame players in this set. I'm rather new to football and football card collecting, so when I make purchases from past years, it helps me to acclimate myself to these players. Thank you for reading my thread and responding.

Wow, I did not realize that that much of old school cards had such staggering amount of innovative cards. Thank you sir, now I will look into these type of cards and do some reaserch by window shopping on eBay! My issue is that I did not start collecting until 2012. I'm actually trying to collect the older sets. I'm very excited as all forum members are so passionate about this hobby. Thank you for reading my thread and responding.
