  • "fired up"

    To my fellow forum members,

Boy, was Mrs. Toshi and I fired up when we opened the 2014 Topps Chrome Hanger Pack only to find a completely different product! Please view our previous thread if you have not already. That being aside, I'm always keeping my mindset in a positive focus. We have enough negativity in this world to last a thousand karmic lives to say the least.

As you can see, I still support Toops in it's endeavors of sports cards, or I would not have purchased this next product, 2014 Topps Fire. These cards are unique in that they have an almost animated look to it with the surrounding key design to be in reference to the element of fire.

The base cards are something to be an acquired taste, to be honest with everyone, the foil enhanced cards of which are depicted below carry the theme "Fire" in a much more appropriated statement. The brake consisted of a large majority of rookie cards followed the the usual veteran cards. The foil inserts were the most eye appealing graphics within this set.

My inserts "Competitive Fire" depicting Peyton Manning and Andrew luck was a nicely enhanced theme while the "On Fire" Jeremy Hill insert made a much more bolder statement. I had one die cut shaped in a lava flow type form which held a representation of Marqise Lee, and finally my main hit of this break in which was a Teddy Bridgewater authentic memorabilia, or of which Topps refers to as a "Relic".

Other than this assorted product I must say the cards were a very reasonable $9.99 for a hanger box. I have not seen nor acquired a "Blaster Box" of this product of which doesn't mean it doesn't exist, it's probably due to my late purchasing of this particular product. You be the judge, please review my brake below.

Wow, you bought a chrome hanger, and Fire cards were in there?? Are you sure it wasn't tampered with?

I'm not sure I like the Fire stuff.....too busy for me. Nice hit on the Bridgewater tho!

Good luck Toshi, and good for you on your attitude towards the situation....we need more cool heads in the world.

Great pull on the Bridgewater Toshi!

I busted a Blaster Box of Fire from Target...the last one on the shelf. NO guaranteed hits...only a bonus back making it 8 packs for 19.99 vs $24 if purchased at 2.99 individually.

Have also picked up a hanger box which had a pretty cool array of cards. a bunch of the 1 per regular pack parallel metallic/holo - no relics yet though I did get the Logan Thomas base card (which will be added to my Hokie pile) - despite the fact I collect specific players I still get a kick out of bustin' packs...even though it is somewhat cheaper to find individual cards elsewhere...

I did pick up one fat pack of 2015 Topps Baseball Just for Kicks and actually pulled the one card I would be looking for - the Jesse Hahn - (yep another Hokie!) SO while I didn't hit anything of major value either $ or trade - I DID hit 2 Hokies!!

I think he was just referring to his previous "Topps" purchase.

          Hey Toshi,

So you found the hanger boxes I was talking about. Pretty good deal for $9.99, huh? The $19.99 blasters are out there, but why buy them when you can get 2 of the hanger boxes for the same price and have more than 2x the cards and 2 shots at a hit. Nice hit with the Teddy. I got a D'Anthony Thomas Green Relic in my first box, none in the next 4, but still good value. Those 2 inserts are "Out of this World Rookie" and "Forged by Fire Die Cut".

Yes, as I mentioned it is an acquired taste to say the least. Busy is an understatement, LOL!!

It is very different in graphics, it pulls away from the traditional full bleed concept of cards. Love it or hate it, Topps did try to take it at another artistic level.

Thank you for your kind words, there's so much more going on in the world to be even mildly upset about in the world that a set of football cards would take my attention away from real world issues and concerns.

Thank you for the read and reply.

            Toshi

You've definately got your monies worth! As I always say; "A deals a deal". I'm glad you at the very least acquired more Hokie cards. For every collector there's always a special card in every break, you just never know.

Yes, as soon as you mentioned "Fire" and "Hanger Box" I immediately requested to Mrs. Toshi that I wanted to go to Target specifically for the Fire Hanger Box. Even Brett (My daughters boyfriend as well as my collecting partner) came along to purchase a hanger box for himself.

Thanks for the read and reply as well as the clarification.
