  • Handful of 2015 Bowman Blasters

Heya Baseball Showcase! After about a years worth of time away from buying cards (college started up again, almost got divorced, life, etc.), I got the itch to start ripping packs again. Normally I am a football collector, but with the Twins doing well, and nothing exciting me about football products recently, I decided to try some baseball.

So, after work the last night, I grabbed the last four blaster boxes of 2015 Bowman. I always knew Bowman was a prospect heavy product (not really my thing), but I figured it would give me a chance to learn some new players, and I know the base set isn't that large, so I should be able to complete it fairly easily. With all that... here are the highlights from my "break"...

    Rookie Reflections:
    Frank Thomas

Prospect Refractors (Maybe? Paper stock, unnumbered, "prizm" like background):
    Mike Yastrzemski (Orioles)
    Jon Gray (Rockies)

    Farms Finest Minis:
    Josh Bell (Pirates)
    Kyle Freeland (Rockies)
    Dylan Bundy (Orioles)
    Trea Turner (Padres)
    Clayton Blackburn (Giants)
    Austin Kubitza (Tigers) - Purple - 174/250
Manuel Margot (Red Sox) - Green - 28/99

    Bowman Scouts Top 100:
    Julio Urias (Dodgers)
    Michael Taylor (Nationals)
    Jose Berrios (Twins)
    Lucas Sims (Braves)
Jameson Taillon (Pirates) - Die Cut - 55/99
Kyle Chick (Giants) - Die Cut - 96/99

    Colored Parallels:
Tanner Roark (Nationals) - Paper Stock - Gray - 064/499
Gregor Blanco (Giants) - Paper Stock - Purple - 073/250
Jimmy Reed (Cardinals) - Chrome Stock - Purple - 143/250
Francellis Montas (White Sox) - Paper Stock - Green - 28/99
Marco Gonzales (Cardinals) - Chrome Stock - Green - 47/99

    Auto(!):
Adam Walker (Twins) - Paper Stock - Unnumbered

I have no idea if any of those are "good" hits or not, or approximate values... Like I said, just getting back in to baseball, and don't know a lot about the current prospects.
I also managed to get 76/150 of the veteran / rookie base set, so I'm pleased with that coming from blasters. I don't have enough card pages to sort through the prospect set, but it looks like I did well there too.

Anyway... after a year away, I figured it would be fun to share my first "break" back in the hobby. Thanks for reading, because I know this was longish... hope you enjoyed!

Welcome back! Jack and I have started dabbling in baseball as well. The player pool is a little daunting after not being in the hobby for 13 years. Football was a much easier learning curve! haha

    Thanks for sharing your break!

ps...happy to read the ALMOST in your first sentence.

Hey, thanks! The pool is definitely daunting, but I've been trying to keep up as best I can! And thanks for the PS... it was a rough time, and I over share... haha

Having had fairly decent luck recently with blasters, and since I don't have a LCS to get a hobby box from, I decided to buy another Bowman blaster last night. It was probably one of the best blasters I have ever bought... not because the hits were mind blowing or anything, but because I think every pack except one had an insert of some sort!

        Here's the haul!...

Adrian Rondon (Rays) Farm Finest Mini
Tim Cooney (Cards) Farm Finest Mini - Blue - 141/150
Victor Martinez (Tigers) Parallel (Unnumbered, paper stock, don't know the exact name)
Maikel Franco (Phillies) Bowman Top 100
Nick Gordon (Twins) Silver Parallel - 214/499
Carlos Rodon (White Sox) Chrome Refractor - 271/499
Alex Reyes (Cards) Chrome Prospect Auto - Green Parallel - 62/99

Again, nothing mind blowing or anything like that, but it's nice to be able to get decent hits in a blaster box. Hell, I'm sure all of us can remember getting a hobby box that wasn't as good as this blaster was!

Haha, thanks revghost! I was pleased with the breaks, but after I started looking up the Reyes auto I got really stoked! I knew the name already, but I didn't realize that he was selling that well... on eBay that particular card is averaging around the $70-$80 range, so it's going to end up paying for a Bowman hobby box for me, or most of a jumbo hobby box!

Yeah, you pulled one of the better names. I pulled a Robert Refsnyder Green Refractor Auto a couple weeks back, seems like the green parallels run in blaster pairs, from two blasters, I pulled two green refractors, a green mini, a green paper and the green auto. Great hit, you could probably do a hobby box and have enough left over for a team or player break spot. Jumbo is a good way to go also. I've stopped buying 2015 Bowman, I've got a very nice stack that I'm holding for a bit. Congrats again!
