  • am i the only idiot left?

I'm saddened to say that I only personally know two other people that still love this hobby. Ironically those two people are the major components in how I got involved in the hobby to start with. Only one is married and we have this same conversation all time! It always starts with a picture sent of the newest eBay purchase when it arrives in the mail. Then the "how much" question is asked! And lastly two more questions, are we the only idiots in the world blowing our money on cardboard and exactly how much does your wife think you spend on said foolishness. Now to be fair to the situation both of us pay our bills first and are as in much control as one can be when dealing with this obsession. But on the same token my wife is completely and utterly blind to the fact that the card board I buy is actually worth money. In her eyes their not worth anything and no one collects them anymore. I say all this to get to the point that she's under the assumption that there isn't much money in it so there isn't much money coming out of my account for it. Here lately I've really been wondering if anyone else has this same conversation and how much does your significant other actually think you spend? I've never really had this talk with anyone but my cousin so I'm somewhat intrigued at this point to hear from fellow collectors!!!! And Honestly I'm hoping I'm not the only idiot left enjoying childhood hobbies throughout my adult years! So with that being said someone please help me out!
I buy the card not the grade!. My want list gets updated way to frequently to be consistent.

I am always in the market for Cards,Any Alabama player current or former(football only), current or former St Louis Cardinals especially Albert Pujols,Matt Carpenter,Stephen Piscotty and Mark Mcgwire,Grant Hill and other duke blue devil. It is easier when people are younger and not married/have kids. As soon as we have family and house mortgage, most of the time our hobby funds take a hit and we cant do it anymore like we used too. A lot of my friends who used to collect when I was a teenager are married/have kids now so any extra money has to go towards them/their future college funds.

Trust me there are thousands and thousands of adults who still collect sports cards around the world.
