I'm in the process of reorganizing my baseball card collection and I'm confronted with a bunch of prospects and rookies from the past several years. Just curious as to what rules you use to decide when to get rid of a prospect or rookie besides the obvious one that he is no longer in baseball.

At least for basketball, if that person is no longer in the sport, I would go with these.
Is that person is on the team I collect?
What is the book value of that card? (maybe it can be traded for a team collector of that player)
Does the card look cool?

I always go with ones that are on my favorite team first. Secondly, if there is any interesting stories I heard about the person (being family friendly, being a Christian, etc.), and then if there is a high school or college connection. I don't really focus on value because I am in this hobby for fun. I tried investing and it just wasn't fun for me.Favorite baseball players include: Mike Schmidt, Steve Carlton, Kirby Puckett, Pete Rose, Tyler Colvin Mark Appel
Favorite football players include: Peyton Manning, John Elway, Daunte Culpepper, Mike Alstott, Blake Bortles, and Dri Archer
Collecting: 2012 Topps Mini 1987 topps... non-certified autos (in person or through the mail), autographed cards with bible verses
