  • What To Keep?

I'm in the process of reorganizing my baseball card collection and I'm confronted with a bunch of prospects and rookies from the past several years. Just curious as to what rules you use to decide when to get rid of a prospect or rookie besides the obvious one that he is no longer in baseball.

At least for basketball, if that person is no longer in the sport, I would go with these.

Is that person is on the team I collect?
What is the book value of that card? (maybe it can be traded for a team collector of that player)
    Does the card look cool?

I always go with ones that are on my favorite team first. Secondly, if there is any interesting stories I heard about the person (being family friendly, being a Christian, etc.), and then if there is a high school or college connection. I don't really focus on value because I am in this hobby for fun. I tried investing and it just wasn't fun for me.
Favorite baseball players include: Mike Schmidt, Steve Carlton, Kirby Puckett, Pete Rose, Tyler Colvin Mark Appel
Favorite football players include: Peyton Manning, John Elway, Daunte Culpepper, Mike Alstott, Blake Bortles, and Dri Archer
Collecting: 2012 Topps Mini 1987 topps... non-certified autos (in person or through the mail), autographed cards with bible verses

Very simple, keep what you like. After all, it's your collection. So, keep what you like and sell and/or trade the others. Have a good night.

        Baseball HOFers Autos I need
