  • Cranston Show Celebrating 35th Anniversary

If you remember the “good old days” of jam-packed card shows with few bells and whistles but massive piles of old baseball cards and other collectors items, there is still a place where the feeling lives on.

The “Cranston Show”–a fixture in New England since 1976, will return for the 35th straight year on February 5.

The show is an annual fundraiser for a local church parish.

Tom McDonough got the idea after attending a small show and rediscovering a childhood hobby.* He got organized and the event turned out to be a hit.

The dealer roster is large and so is the collector base.* Somewhere around 1800 dealers and collectors will visit what is the largest one-day show in the country.

It pre-dates the National Sports Collectors Convention and many of the hobby’s other recognizable shows.* The show actually takes place in West Warwick and the Warwick Beacon caught up with McDonough to talk about one of collecting’s most revered shows.
