What is the best value for buying topps packs at retail to get Diamond Giveaway codes? I just bought one of the 14.99 boxes and a 7.99 4-packer at Target as those seem to be decent value. I am just getting back into collecting baseball cards in a minor way. I liked the online trading last year (MCG) and made a steal on their so the Diamond Giveaway is something I am looking to get into. Any thoughts on best value for getting the codes?
To buy codes you have to pay atleast $3 just about everywhere so in the 14.99 box I am getting $8.50 in codes ($3 x the guaranteed 2 and 5/6 in the packs). So that leaves $6.49 for 5 packs of cards, 2 heritage and the special card.
In the 7.99 packages you get 1 code plus 4/6 in packs so that is $5 worth of codes, leaving $2.99 for 4 packs of cards. It seems to me like these two options are pretty even value, any opinions one way or the other. I know very little about Topps Heritage.
