New Series: A Look Back At My History With Collecting Cards

When I started this blog, I was still very active in card collecting. In fact, card collecting was something I thought I would never give up. It was something that had been a huge part of my life for over 20 years. I had seen friends and family come and go, card shops in my town come and go, the rise of the internet and Ebay, the downfall of card shows etc. Cards were always a mainstay. From Elementary School all the way until I finished college, I was able to buy cards I never dreamed of owning. The thrills of the pack pull or finding "steals" at shows or online was something I'd never forget. I tried collecting Pogs, Starting Lineup Figures, McFarlane Figures, Video Games, some hobbies lasted longer than others, but Sports Cards...was one thing I NEVER gave up. Finally, last year, for reasons I've posted before in previous posts, I decided it was time to give it up. As hard as it was to do, to sell off my prized cardboard possessions, it was for the best as I moved on to a collection focused more on Game Used Memorabilia. The next posts will be a retrospective look at my history collecting, as one of my friend's used to put it "cardboard with faces on them". I've got a lot of stories, and though I can't guarantee I'll finish posting all of them, time permitting, I'll give it a great shot kind of like my SLU series I did. Tentatively the sections look like this
