Topps did not disclose the variations on the final 2020 Topps Update Series Baseball checklist, leaving collectors to piece things together on their own.
While the short-printed cards should be in all formats - which can be verified by checking the pack or box odds, the official Hobby odds are noted below:
Hobby Odds: SP - 1:63 packs, SSP - 1:1,252 packs, SSSP - Unknown
Hobby Jumbo Odds: SP - 1:20 packs, SSP - 1:382 packs, SSSP - Unknown
Going strictly by the posted odds, the SP/SSP cards are roughly twice as tough to pull compared to 2019 Update Series MLB.
Both Series 1 and Series 2 have an even more rare group of variations now referred to as SSSP. These are not listed with the pack odds but the cards have a different code compared to the SP and SSP. The same extra-limited tier applies to Update Series, as well. The SSSP theme appears to be former players in executive or ownership roles.
