That should be my new nickname, because over the past couple of months... I've enthusiastically and systematically been taking out cards targeted on my Top 10 list.
But before I share them with y'all, let's talk about the list itself.
I really shouldn't call it a Top 10 list, because there's actually twenty-plus cards on it. Some of them are high-end, bucket-list kind of cards... like a 1952 Topps Jackie Robinson or 1956 Topps Ted Williams. While others are cards valued at less than most drinks you'd find on a Starbucks'menu.
Five years ago... when I started this blog, I intended to have one of those sidebar "most wanted" lists. You know... like Night Owl's "Nebulous 9" or Nick's "Dime Box Dozen". However... I encountered one major problem: I couldn't stop adding cards to my list.
In fact, as I type this post... there are twenty-one cards that currently reside on it and trying to choose which ones are my favorites has proven more difficult than walking away from a dime box filled with vintage hall of famers.
However... as soon as I can come up with a cool name for my list and/or narrow it down to a more realistic number... I'll share it with you guys.
Until then... here are my latest PC additions:
I have wanted this card for several years now. This card combines three things I truly appreciate: the 1965 Toppscard design, Topps Galleryartwork, and of course... The Professor himself.
If you're a Greg Madduxcard collector, then you know that his certified, pack pulled autographs are kinda pricey. My solution? I bought this card...
I have always wanted to add an autographed rookie card of Maddux to my collection and I've been bidding on them whenever I can. After a long wait, this card finally fell into my lap. I paid $64.84 (+ $3 shipping), which is a little more than I usually bid... but I had some eBayBucks I wanted to burn.
The last card is an on-card autograph of Ken Caminiti:
This is another card that has sat on my list for quite awhile now. Caminiti was a fellow San Jose State Spartan and one of the Padres'best hitters (not named Gwynn) during the 90's. Unfortunately he passed away in 2004, which means he doesn't have a plethora of certified autographs in a Padres'uniform floating around our hobby.
Plus since he's deceased, demand outweighs supply and in return his autographs aren't cheap. Luckily, I found a reasonable eBay seller who accepted my $20 (+ $3 shipping) offer.
Well that's it for now. I'm still right in the thick of things, but I wanted to have a least one post published during the week. The stack of blogger packages continues to pile up, so I'm going to try to get to at least a few more this weekend... but I can't make any promises.
I hope y'all are enjoying your week. Happy Wednesday and sayonara!
