  • Low, Mid, High End!

I had to share this with everyone. I've noticed my collection, although small, has cards from the early '90's to present. The cards that got my attention were Score by then company, Donruss Playoff. This was considered "Low End". Up until 2013 this was the case. Upon careful examination, the majority of Score cards were at best, ok. Not bad but not great. Just ok. Now we take our focus on 2013 Panini Score. It is one of the best looking Score cards ever to be produced. The card stock is excellent, the photos that depicts the players are fantastic, and the variety of inserts make 2013 Panini Score a true collectible. So is this set "Low End"? by industry standards, it's a resounding YES! But to collectors, at least in my humble opinion, 2013 Score raises the bar and makes this set a definite "Mid End" product. My all time favorite is card #141 of Scores base set. It depicts David Wilson of the New York Giants in one of the greatest action shots ever captured in photography!

What is considered "Low End"? Moving on forward, I was amazed at how 2012 Topps Chrome exploded with the popularity of having first round draft picks Andrew Luck and RGIII. With all the ruckus, I took a look at what my daughters boyfriend Brett pointed out. "You've got a SP"! Again with David Wilson, the limited print and the rush to purchase Chrome drove the price point above market value at times. Was Chrome a "Mid End" or "High End"? We can only second guess this scenario.

As for a "High End" product? Looking at and researching this type of product, the entry level "High End" starts with Topps Five Star, Panini National Treasures, and Upper Deck Exquisite respectively. Not everyone is capable financially in purchasing a hobby box for $500.00 and up. Those that do, may adopt me at anytime! Just remember me in your final will and testament in regards to your "High End" products. As the technology of production in sports cards excels, collectors are able to pick and choose what was considered "Low End", and yet to see your card escalate in price per Beckett's point of sale. I suppose in the end what truly matters is ; "Collectors enjoying their hobby collection, low or high, as they see fit! There is no wrong way nor right way of collecting sports cards!
I am easy, I collect any and all NFL cards. Individual players I really enjoy are Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Matt Ryan, Andrew Luck, RGIII, and Russell Wilson. My passion is Favre rookie cards and vintage cards.
