I have always enjoyed my purchases at the local hobby shop "Collectors Palace"! Mrs. Toshi is always present to ok the purchase and pick out what product to purchase. Two key components to a successful marriage. The last couple of hobby boxes were actually purchased on line via Dacardworld. Another first for us. So we've both have been patient in the next premier of football hobby boxes. Although we look forward to a possible '13 Topps Chrome or '13 Topps Platinum, I have been secretly planning a purchase of one of my first hobby boxes from 2012. Daily, I research each hobby box to see how many autos and how many relics come in a box break. I also pay close attention to the so called estimated break in percentages normally looking like this example here. 1/25 or 1/500. Then my final examination in how well a particular card of the chosen product sells on the secondary market. Of course the closer the price is to Beckett, the better it is for the collector and the sellar! My final decision has been to acquire a 2012 Panini Certified hobby box that currently sells for $84.00. With this cost in mind, I am actually considering two 2012 Panini Certified! I actually received a $10.00 coupon from Dacardworld. So this will work out really well for us. Until then, if anyone has suggestions for another type of product? I'm open to all forum members choices, just make sure you have sufficient data to back it up!
Once again, here we are at Walmart. We go through the usual motions of some minor grocery shopping assignments and we both stop by the card aisle prior to check out. I've been searching and searching for a "Leon Sandcastle" card without success. Currently I must have enough '13 Bowman and '13 Score to open a card shop! So Mrs. Toshi picks a couple of hanger packs of Bowman and Score. Behind me is a cart full of loose and various items to be placed on the shelves for retaile sale. Right inside the cart is a box of 2013 Panini Score Retail Box. This is not a individual pack display box. It's actually a hobby box for sale in its entirely unopened condition. Visions of "Leon Sandcastle" cards are dancing in my mind like the Disney movie "Fantasia" in the scene with sugar plum fairies! We make our purchase and head home, once we organize and carefully put away are household items, we put our attention into breaking this box. As always, Mrs. Toshi is Queen Diva of ripping packs, while I'm the court fool whom organize the cards in it's numerical order. Mrs. Toshi is a tad upset as we did not get to open a pack with "Leon Sandcastle". We did however get the one hit promised in this low end product. It's either a auto card or a relic card. As you can see below, we received a nicely designed relic card and a surprising insert of "Scorecard". This might not be a Panini National Treasures nor a Topps Five Star product that starts at the ultimate high end cost in excess of $500.00. But for a simple, easy, and clean purchase from Walmart, it does fulfill our time while waiting on our next big hit. My next goal is to hear the "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" while looking at my 1/1, White Whale, or my Superfractor! In actuality a screaming rendition of "The Song Remains the Same" by Led Zepplin is more to my taste! Yes Ladies and gentleman of this forum, I'm showing my age.
As Always,
Mrs. Toshi and the court fool Toshi
