I could use some advice. Actually, that's a understatement! I could use as much advice and direction as I can get. Next year in 2014, the card convention comes to Cleveland, Ohio. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've never been to any type of card convention in my life. I've only been to my local card shop "Collectors Palace", a card shop in Macedonia only once, and one in Stow also only once. My only other contact and information network has been eBay, Dacradworld, and my all time favorite and number one card site "Card Collectors World". So you get the picture.
I know it's still early, but I would like to start by getting any type of information and as much knowledge as possible. For those members who've been to this type of gathering, I want to hear of your experience and tips. My questions are as follows.
1) I've read that if you pay the top tier price for entrance into the convention, you can be there an hour or two early which allows you to get autographs and beat the main crowd. I seen prices range from $175.00 to $250.00. What do forum members suggest?
2) Can you take pictures at these events?
3) Is there a specific technique in browsing the booths?
4) Is there a booth that is the most popular area? And why?
5) Are prices in line with Beckett value, or eBay value?
6) If number five answer is Beckett, do I just browse and purchase items from
Dacradworld for the best prices?
7) What can I expect as far as cards are concerned?
8) I've read that cards from $0.50 to $350,000.00 are available. An example is the T-
206 Honus Wagner. Is this statement true?
9) Panini distributes National Convention cards, examples are 2013 Panini Score
Andrew Luck 1/1. If its a 1/1, why is it at a bid on eBay for $12.00?
10) Will CBC and or CCW have a booth?
11) Will anyone from this forum be there? If your answer is yes, I'd like to meet you in
person! My wife said; "I don't want to see you, what makes the forum members
want to see you"? LOL!
12) And finally, any tips?
