  • $20.00 retail misc. box

    To my fellow forum members,

Yesterday, I read a local news article that pertained to the states with the most happiest people and the states with the most unhappiest people. I was shocked to find that in the bottom 10 states of residents that were unhappy, Ohio was in the mix. Further reading indicated that the other nine states were southern states. 178,000 people were polled to see how residents of each state felt. The most wonderful people through my travels that I've met were from the southern states.

Coming from the west coast, everything was now, hurry, get out of my way, and f*** you! Arriving in Ohio was a total culture shock. After 13 years in Ohio, I've finally taken a breath and learned to view the world around me with a refreshing attitude toward life and most importantly people. Sorry whitney777, but maybe those polled in Ohio were Browns fans? Who knows.

At the other spectrum, Hawaii was one of the top 10 states with the happiest people. Having been a local boy growing up there, it's congested, resources are scarce, everything you can think of is expensive. This does not seem like a happy place to me. Here is an example. Milk $10.00, dozen egg $6.00, bread $4.00. You just blew $20.00 on items that cost $6.00 in Ohio. Everyone I know in Hawaii are struggling even with two jobs. You cannot enjoy paradise while working 2 jobs and have nothing to show for it, hence our decision to relocate the Toshi's to the 49 other states. Our biggest concern was that the education system and job market in Hawaii is built on failure.

To be where I'm at, I thank The Lord each day and live life to its fullest. One of my many blessings is the fact that due to this injury, I am retired for good yet able to find and enjoy collecting football cards and having to be a part of a fantastic community in CCW! Having a little extra money to be able to purchase items for my hobby is just icing on the cake.

While traversing the aisle at Walmart, Mrs. Toshi found a $20.00 misc. football value box. I received nothing special nor was I intent of looking for a hit. What I got out of this box was a very happy smile and being able to share this with like minded people. Such a simple item like this makes Mrs. Toshi and I one of the most happiest people in Ohio!

I am easy, I collect any and all NFL cards. Individual players I really enjoy are Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Matt Ryan, Andrew Luck, RGIII, and Russell Wilson. My passion is Favre rookie cards and vintage cards.

I have heard of people getting big hits out of those repackaged boxes, but not very many... Part of the fun in collecting for me is opening packs, so I can understand the fun in just opening packs for the sake of opening packs!
PC'ing Minnesota Twins Auto's and GU's, and popular former Twins in their Twins uniform!

Yes, I am in agreement with you. Mrs. Toshi is the official pack opener in our house hold and I enjoy cataloging each card. The simplest things in life are the most enjoyable! Thank you drubacca117 for always reading and replying on Mrs. Toshi and I threads. It means a great deal to me.

This post is exactly why I love Topps base products. While I always hope to pull a monster, the joy of opening 20 or 30 pack for under $60 is much more exciting than opening one for $250. My 2 boys and I get super excited about the 'whats in the next pack' thrill and we actually have competitions to see who wins the best pack award. One of the biggest pulls me and my boys ever pulled was from 1.99 pack of Topps at Walmart. My 8 year old opened the pack and read 'Hank Aaron Bat Relic' and I about fell out. Besides, with mutiple packs, if one or two are ehhh, theres always the opportunity for the wow factor to still be in place. I am a low end collector and I am just fine being there. I think there are more opportunities for the $100 and less box opening club then for the high enders. More reward and a lot less risk makes us happy.

That's the same feeling I have! I'll never have a high end collection unless I win the lottery, but the joy I get from opening packs searching for that next big thing... I can't explain it to those that haven't felt it!

Yes, your comment makes so much sense! It really is akin to being in Vegas to gamble, the next pack could be your jackpot. Thank you for reading our threads and replying, we really appreciate the support.

I am right along with you guys, I am always searching walmarts/targets for new boxes/blasters to grab and just for the fun of it see what happens. But in the past few months I have had some great luck with retail.

I've purchased maybe 10 of those $20 boxes...I love them. I love cards and busting packs and these boxes are so much fun.

Ultimately, as you've mentioned, your choice of words, love cards, so much fun speaks volumes.
