  • A very very rare card!

    To my fellow forum members,

I will start this thread with a date, 1991. In Minnesota at Super Bowl XXVI, associates from Topps Stadium Club were handing out packs of cards wrapped in cellophane. From what I researched there are only 100 to 200 of these cards that survived. These cards were issued to commemorate Super Bowl XXVI.

Many of these Cellophane packs design were actually the regular 1991 Topps Stadium Club. To differentiate the two sets, Topps elected to emboss each card in the upper right hand corner with the words Super Bowl XXVI.

As we all know, cards printed during the 90's or better known for is the junk card era. Most cards carried a value from $0.05 on up. This holds true for the Super Bowl card. One major difference that made an impact for collectors was the fact that one card and only one card carried the value of this set

This card that was of value was the 1991 Topps Stadium Club Super Bowl XXVI Brett Favre Rookie Card. Members are well aware of my collecting habits, in that of I collect hard to find Brett Favre cards. One of the main reasons I do this is that Brett Favre had such a long run, it's almost impossible to collect every single card. So I went in a completely different direction and started off with cards of Brett Farve, that falls into the catergory of "Rare and hard to find" cards. Some examples are the Star Pic auto, Pro-Set Spanish, Classic french version, and the Wild Card 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, and 1000. I happen to own all these cards and more. I've acquired stripe 5 and 10. All I need is the last four.

Effective today, all I need to complete my Brett Favre rookie card set is the Wild Card set. This set is very cost prehibitive. I am probably going to watch eBay sellers that not only have these cards, but have it at an extremely low price point. The card depicted has a book value of $600.00. A bit pricy if you asked me. But I only paid $130.00. Amazing! Please view the card below.

That is very cool Toshi. I guess that easily jumps to your #1 best card. My jaw dropped when I saw that you paid $130. But being only 20% of the BV, looks like you made an excellent purchase.
I collect Andre Johnson, Redskins from the 70’s & 80’s, HOF’ers and Texas A&M Aggies
(Manziel, Mike Evans, Jake Matthews, Ryan Swope, Sean Porter, Luke Joeckel, Damontre Moore, Ryan Tannehill, Cyrus Gray, Jeff Fuller, Martellus Bennett, Stephen McGee, Goodson, Jerrod Johnson, V. Miller, Acie Law, DeAndre Jordan, Antoine Wright, Justin Ruggiano, etc.).

Thanks! You are correct in your statement that this card will be my number one card as I've never owned a card that cost $600.00. Also note, I've been searching for this particular card for a very long time. It's always the cost to purchase this card, that negates any further process. You said your jaw dropped when you saw that I paid $130.00 for this card. When I hit the buy tab, I immediately had an out of body experience! As for paying 20%, I had a really great teacher, I followed my teachers examples. This teacher is you RBRedskins! Thank you for reply.

Some additional notes in regards to the '91 SB Favre card.

Beware: Fake Brett Favre 1991 Stadium Club Super Bowl embossed cards
Wanted to make collectors aware of the newest counterfeit card being created by a Tennessee forger, who buys using ebay User ID carboncopy1999. In the last few weeks he has been buying up the Brett Favre rookie base singles from the 1991 Stadium Club card set. See here: eBay I was curious as to why he would begin buying those specific cards in mass. Now I know why. His close friend, (who sells under Ebay User ID delprete1, sold an extremely rare 1991 Favre Stadium Club Super Bowl embossed card of Brett Favre for $227.50. See here: Brett Favre 1991 Stadium Club Rookie Card Super Bowl XXVI Stamp RARE | eBay The card is counterfeit, just like many of his other items that he has sold. This counterfeiter has a history of creating fake certified autograph cards of Brett Favre 1991 Star Pics; Scottie Pippen 1993/94 Fleer Ultra Career Highlights; Muhammad Ali/Cassius Clay 1992 Pro Line; Derek Jeter 1992 Front Row; Adrian Peterson 2007 Topps Premier as well as patch cards. Any card that is certified by the company with stickers or embossed seals is what he creates. These two men are also associated with ebay seller jain_farstrider and wisconsin_dani (same person). This counterfeiter has been doing this for years on ebay with numerous seller/buyer ID's. Two of his most recent ID's were alabamadiscobiscuit and fatbackgoose. You can check his feedback history on all of his ID's to see the purchases and sales that he has made. If you begin to notice ungraded Favre 1991 Stadium Club Super Bowl cards on ebay - please be cautious. Look at the sellers other auctions and selling history. There were only 300 of these cards made.
