To my fellow forum members,
I still remember the debut of the very first Topps Strata in 2012. It was one of the most interesting and slightly odd designs I've ever seen. Does anyone know what the background is? To me, it looks like the inside of the elevator from something like the Death Star or some Sci-Fi spacecraft. How much weirder can this get. I didn't get last year's Starta as 2013 had such a weak draft class. I'm not too positive about this year's draft class as well.
At the begining of the 2014 collecting season, all the hype was about Johnny "Football" Manziel, hence the high market value for his cards. Everyone wanted one, it almost and I mean almost felt like 2012 again! But that was not to be, by the end of the NFL season, Johnny "Football" cards were in a state of limbo, well you know what I'm trying to get at. I was hoping for more Manziel with the Browns organization but that was not the case. As the situation unfolded, we here in Cleveland, Ohio must be patient once again and see what 2015 has to offer us besides all this snow and temperatures in the negative value. Brrrr!
As I stood in line at Walmart to be checked out today, Mrs. Toshi was busy utilizing her Psychic powers to find a hit, through some sort of magical connotation or some form of necromancy of the dark arts "Luke, I am your father", I knew not. Once home, we placed all of our groceries in it's proper place and began to open each pack of cards. First off, Mrs. Toshi chose a rack pack with 3 retail exclusive purple parallel. Second, she chose a blaster box of Strata that contained 6 packs and 1 extra pack.
These were some decent looking cards, Mrs. Toshi actually loved this years graphics. The packs contained an average of 4 veteran and 2 rookie cards to total 48 cards per blaster box. As I opened the packs, something that I almost never partake in as that's Mrs. Toshi's job, I noticed a really fat pack of which I saved as the last pack to open. Out of the break and besides the retail exclusive purple parallels from the hanger pack, I pulled 2 die cuts, one black refractor, and a jersey card. When I finally got to the last pack, I realized how heavy it was. Upon opening the pack, there was only one card in it. It was a 180pt. "WOW", Johnny Football 2 color patch. As nice as the card was, it was the thickness that awed the both of us! Well, add that to another Mrs. Toshi strikes it again pick, and we will see what Mrs. Toshi can find in the next break. Until that time, please review the cards below and I want to thank each and every one of the forum members for your support, this means so much to me.
