  • 2011 Press Pass Wheels Main Event NASCAR trading cards Box Break Recap and Review

Press Pass offers up Wheels Main Event as the last release for the 2011 NASCAR season. It is a great finish to an amazing year for Press Pass.

We classify 2011 Press Pass Wheels Main Event as premium cards. Each hobby box contains 20 – 5 card packs with a bonus single hit card pack. Each box contains either one Autograph card and two memorabilia card plus the bonus pack’s hit of a vintage autograph or memorabilia card or numbered parallel.

    Here is what we pulled.

    First from the base set

Jeff Gordon Sprint Cup base front and back

Reed Sorenson Nationwide and Ron Hornaday Camping World Truck cards

    Carl Edwards Lead Foot

    Dale Earnhardt Jr. Spot On

    Jimmie Johnson Show Stoppers

    From the inserts

Matt Kenseth and Kurt Busch Rear View Mirror

Jimmie Johnson, Brad Keselowski, Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart and Dave Ragan All-Stars

Twenty Years of Joe Gibbs Racing, The 2011 Team

    And the hits.

Justin Allgaier Black and White Base Parallel

Kasey Kahne and Juan Pablo Montoya Lead Foot Shoe Relic, both #/99

Brad Keselowski Main Event Marks On-Card Autograph #/10

    From the Bonus Pack

Ryan Newman Under Cover Car Cover Memorabila Card 3/140
This card is from 2006 Press Pass Eclipse

    Overall Look
Black is the new black. The studio portraits are excellent. Insert card design is great too.

Quality and Variety of Drivers and Subsets
All the drivers you could want from the Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Truck series are here. There are a lot of desirable cards to collect here.

Do the Hits satisfy? Are the cards too base heavy?
On-Card autos are the hallmark of Press Pass and as usual they work well here, and I'm not just talking about the #/10 auto card we pulled of Keselowski, a driver who is still within striking distance to win this year's Sprint Cup. The materials for the memorabilia memorabilia cards are limited to fire suits, shoes and gloves. If you are an avid collector of Press Pass cards throughout the year, this might seem like a nice change of pace. For collectors looking to pull a sheet metal or tire card, you will need to look elsewhere.

Will you keep coming back for more?
One box is a must and at this price point, busting cases is an easy proposition. Those without deeper pockets will seek aftermarket singles.

    Rating

    4 1/2 out of 5

2011 Press Pass Wheels Main Event is another great release in a stellar year for NASCAR cards.
