  • Dodgers Trade Ryan Theriot to Cardinals for Blake Hawksworth

Just months after acquiring second baseman Ryan Theriot, the Los Angeles Dodgers trade him to the St. Louis Cardinals for relief pitcher Blake Hawksworth.

That means Juan Uribe will be a starting second baseman for the 2011 season. I still don't understand why Ned Colletti traded for Theriot. He could have traded for Lilly without including the two second baseman.

Hawksworth will be 28 at the start of next season. He spent two seasons with the Cardinals. Making 67 relief appearances and eight starts, with a 4.07 ERA over 130 1/3 innings. Dodgers bullpen struggled last season, and this is the first step to try to improve it.
