McLane purchased the team for $117 million in 1992. People with knowledge of the discussions were uncertain of the purchase price, saying only that it definitely would exceed the $523 million the Rangers went for last summer. Forbes recently placed the value of the Astros at $474 million.

Astros defintly have a chance to get good fairly quick. they havent been afraid to spend some money, they got some nice good pieces as well. I didnt read the article, but the new owner, does he got money to spend into the team to make it a winner?

I know nothing about the supposed buyer , other than he is a multi-millionair just like the rest of them...have no idea if he is going to be willing to put back into the team to bring a winner..i sure hope it works out like that, because he will get run out of town if not!
