  • Dodgers Go For The Sweep With The Return Of Elymania

    Kemp, Gwynn Jr., and Ethier celebrate the DH sweep.Dodgers took both games in yesterday's doubleheader.


    Game 1


    The Dodgers & Padres completed their suspended game on Saturday before their regular scheduled game.


    Tony Gwynn Jr. came up in the top of the 11th inning with 2 runners on base. He singled to right field, bringing in Juan Uribe and gave the Dodgers a 3-2 lead. Aaron Miles later scored on a wild pitch to give the Dodgers a 2-run lead.


    Broxton came in the 11th inning to earn his 4th save of the season. Blake Hawksworth earned the victory with 2 shutout innings. It was his first win as a Dodger.

    Game 2


    The second game of the night featured a stellar performance by Hiroki Kuroda. He went 8 2/3 innings and gave up no runs.


    Broxton came in with 2 runners on and walked Chris Denorfia to load the bases. Cameron Maybin hit a slow roller to third base when Chase Headley ran into Casey Blake as he tried to make a play on the ball. The umpire called runner interference which ended the game. It was Broxton's 5th save of the season and his 2nd of the night.


    The last Dodger to record two saves in one day was Jeff Shaw, on August 25, 2000 at Wrigley Field.


    Matt Kemp had 3 stolen bases in the game and Tony Gwynn Jr. added 2 of his own. Andre Ethier hit his first home run of the season in the 5th inning. That was the Dodgers 4th home run in 8 games.
