Matt Weiters (c) and J J Hardy (ss) should have been starters. As I said in a previous post, take the voting back from the fans and give it back to the players,managers,coaches, and (maybe) sportswriters. At least then we'd get more deserving players as starters for the ALL-STAR game. However, it does appear to me that those who vote for the N L are definitely more HONEST in their voting for the starters. Jeter just got voted on because of his popularity and being a Yankee. His statistics for 2011 surely didn't get him there, nor did the range he covers in the field (that is decreasing). Just my 2 cents. Everyone have a good afternoon.

Rodney- Weiters made it in as a backup, but I defintly believe Avila was the correct choice, he leads AL catchers in almost every offensive category.

glad to see avilia made it and he should have started! Cabrera got snubbed which stinks. Whenever a guy is hitting a milestone he always seems to take ths spot....like the year Cal started at 3rd hitting 205

Why I do not watch these games and any pro bowl gamse as most know.

When Verlander/Shields/Hernandez are announced that they won't be pitching, since they start on the Sunday before the allstar game, CC will get added, then will get announced he can't pitch in the game as well LOL

Jays' Bautista gets most All-Star votes (AP)

Toronto outfielder Jose Bautista has gotten the most votes in fan balloting for starting spots in the All-Star game. Philadelphia aces Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels are part of the National League pitching staff. The Phillies have the best record in the majors. Bautista will lead an American League lineup that includes four starters from the Yankees.
