Y'all are mentioning about several players that either shouldn't be on or should be on the ALL STAR teams. Yet I find it interesting that no one has said anything about Jeter. So, I guess I'll start. Without a doubt the only reason Jeter made the team is because he is a YANKEE. Yankee players, whether they're playing good or not, get votes just because they are Yankees. They don't have to be having good seasons. There are at least two A L shortstops that should be the starting shortstop ahead of Jeter - Cleveland's SS & J J Hardy of the "Birds". Look at their stats, in both offense & defense - Jeter (this year) doesn't come close to either.

But no matter who is on/ not on the team THERE WILL ALWAYS BE disagreements as to who should/shouldn't be on the ALL STAR teams. Also, there will be more talk Thursday after the final player for each team is announced. Not everyone will be happy with the selections.

Unfortunately, opinions/discussions/disagreements on these issues have been going on it seems since the A S GAME was started in the 1930's, it WILL NEVER CEASE. I hope everyone enjoys the A S GAME NEXT Tuesday.

The main items Im looking to trade for are
        Baseball HOFers Autos I need
        Orioles Autos I need
        Baseball HOFers GU I need
        Orioles GU I need
        Vintage Orioles I need 1950s through 1970

I could've sworn I mentioned it Rodney, might've forgotten to. I think most believe Jeter didn't deserve to. I was hoping Jhonny Peralta got the snuck in there or atleast on the final ballot. Shame he didn't as he is leading all AL shortstops in almost every offensive category.

Tons of shortstops better than Jeter, just a shame he took a spot over someone else more desering.

Others have mentioned Jeter. He made it because he is Jeter, I don't think anyone is debating that but I also think he has down enough to be an all star every year because of who he is.

Cabrera made the team and should be the starter, Hardy does not deserve to be on the team over Pereltra, Andrus, Alexieri Ramirez Yeck even Yunel Escabor has more then a right to the team then Hardy. Hardy has had a great month. A month does not make an all star.

Thanks for the quick replies. ALL STAR VOTING should HONESTLY be done based on how the players are doing during the present season - not their past. Unfortunately, the VOTERS DO NOT follow that, they just vote for their "home/favorite" players - not who's doing the BEST (or could be argued as being the BEST).

We could debate positions/stats/players/etc until the end of the earth, and still would NEVER be 100% in agreement. But one thing appears to be definite among us - we like the game of baseball. I hope everyone enjoys the 2011 ALL STAR GAME, no matter who makes the team. Y'll have a good day, Rodney

We can debate that all you want. Personally, I would rather watch Ichiro, Pujols, Jeter and a few other All Time greats then some guys that made it. What needs to go away is the winner getting home field. That is not good. It is either a fun game, or it is for real. If it is for Real then there needs to bea real team put together. One SP, the rest of the pitchers should be bulit like a real staff, and the best players need to play nine innings. Can't have it both ways.

Yeah, 11 years ago. Hamilton is a hot name right now. and he is having a good year. If Ichiro was having a decent year he would be in there too. Ichiro is pretty far down the list of snubs.

Probably the amount of saves he had? I don't know.
