  • BLOCKBUSTER! Lee to Mariners, Halladay to Phils!

    WOW.

According to a report on SI.com, the Phillies have acquired Halladay in a deal that likely would send Cliff Lee(notes), the July acquisition that helped them to a second straight World Series appearance, to the Seattle Mariners. The Mariners and Phillies would send prospects to the Toronto Blue Jays, the team that held onto Halladay in July despite a strong overture from the Phillies.

Philadelphia is expected to sign Halladay to a contract extension, according to SI.com. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Halladay and his agent today checked into a Philadelphia hotel. Halladay is in the last year of a deal that would pay him $15.75 million in 2010.
A three-way deal sent Roy Halladay to the Phillies, Cliff Lee to the Mariners and prospects to the Blue Jays.

Well so much for Angels' Plan B with trading for Halladay or Lee. Now what? I dont really want to see Derek Lowe as their next trade target.

The Jays were never going to send him across their own division to the Yankees.

Now ESPN is reporting that it could be either Lee, Blanton, or Happ to Seattle....not necessarily Lee. But Halladay in Philly is a done deal.

I kinda like what the Phillies are thinking, trading Lee's value while he's at an all time high...

Woohoo, welcome to Philly Roy!! Well, if the Mariners thing isn't a done deal, i'd rathher see Joe Blanton leave.

Just about done now. Lee to Seattle gives them arguably the best 1-2 in the game (Boston is the only thing close with Lester/Beckett).

cc/burnett with the yanks is pretty solid as 1-2 goes, as much as i dislike the yankees...

Burnett isn't anywhere near Felix Hernandez' level, IMO, and CC and Cliff are equally as dominant (in fact, I'd probably take Cliff over CC right now).

CC is consistent- cliff has had 3 good years, mixed in with several bad ones. dont get me wrong, i love both of em, but id still put cc over cliff

king felix is still too young for me to call him dominant- hes close, but not sure if hes quite there yet.

id take cc and burnett over felix and cliff, but its close

Cliff's only really had one bad year, and that was in '07 when he was hurt. His 'worst' season outside of that was the year before when he went 14-11 with a 4.40 ERA. Not too bad...

i must disagree, while i get your point with CC over Lee, its kind of the same with Burnett/Lee, Burnett has had bad years, and his good years are few and far between (mostly in contract years) Lee has done it for 3 years, and back to back dominant years...

                            I'd take Felix/Lee

I'm done as a Blue Jays fan. They are gonna be playing to 10,000 or less fans every game. What the hell are they thinking? They should of went for it this year, and if they are out of it at the deadline, then move him. Sign, and trade him if they have to. This franchise is a complete joke. How many more years do they plan on rebuilding? They won't have to worry about it anymore, as they will have to move the team, just like The Expos!
