  • Verlander for MVP? Yes or No?

I've been reading a lot about the MVP talk and how this guy shouldn't even be considered for the award. Just want to read CCW's thoughts on it! Keep it friendly!

As of right now, 100% YES. Its most valueable player, and Verlander has been that this season for the Tigers. He's gonna account for about 25% of his teams wins on the season most likely.

If the Tigers didn't have Verlander this season, they'd be in 3rd place.

No that's why they have the Cy Young award.... Hitters can't win that award.

So Verlander can't be the Best Pitcher and Most Valuable Player?

Did gladdy pay you to post this thread?

Just kidding. Verlander has had an amazing year. I think a pitcher has won a MVP Award before, but its not very common.

I do agree with Josh. MVP is the person on your team who has helped and led the team to wins/postseason. Majority of the time hitters get credit for it, but some pitchers are very worthy of it.

Cy Young is based only on stats. MVP is just that, Most Valueable Player, which is Justin Verlander.

Would the Yankees or Red Sox be playoff teams without Gonzo, or Ellsbury, or Granderson? Yes. Would the Tigers be a playoff team without Verlander? Nope

As of right this minute..he definitely deserves the MVP award and the Cy Young award....and if the trend continues that he has set, he will win both!

So we should penalize A-Go, Granderson, Ellsbury because the Tigers team behind Verlander sucks?

I'm just going by the sense of the words, most valueable player. Verlander is most valueable in 2011.

If there weren't any position players having phenominal years, then yea he should win MVP.

                        But there are.
