  • Is it crazy to think the Yankees could throw their series vs. TB???

Realistically speaking, if the Yanks/Sox split tomorrow and the Rays beat Toronto, Tampa will be a game behind Boston going into the final series of the year.

The Yankees play the Rays with absolutely NOTHING to gain/lose at all. If they at least split tomorrow the Yanks will have homefield wrapped up for the playoffs already.

Is there any chance the Yanks would 'throw' their series vs. Tampa to try and keep Boston from the playoffs?

I know it sounds ridiculous, but anyone think it could actually happen?

      In a word, yes.

Very crazy, don't see it happening, no way.

However, if Tampa does get in, I'd rather avoid them and let Texas deal with them, especially in a 5 game series when you can throw out there Price, Shields and Hellickson.

        Good question.

Would the Yankees get more satisfaction from keeping Boston out of the playoffs or trying to beat them in a series if it were to come down to them and Boston in the ALCS?
I collect a little bit of everything. But, if I never get back to you, your probably on Ignore!!

Hate Boston and I think New York would rest there starters and let the Devil Rays win to keep the Red Soxs out!
