  • Cubs Trade Carlos Zambrano To Marlins

AP source: Marlins acquires Zambrano from Cubs - MLB - Yahoo! Sports

Salary dump at its finest. Now the Cubs need to get rid of Soriano.

Carlos Zambrano will get a much-needed fresh start with the Miami Marlins. The Chicago Cubs traded their former ace Wednesday for Marlins right-hander Chris Volstad, pending physicals and approval by Major League Baseball, a person familiar with the negotiations said. The person confirmed the deal to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the teams hadn’t announced a deal.

This Marlins clubhouse has the chance to just be a horrible enviorment..They might as well sign Manny Ramirez while they're at it.

Yeah it all starts with Ozzie. Then you have Hanley. Now Zambrano. LOL!

I can't believe someone actually wanted Big Z. He hasn't been relevant for years and his attitude is ridiculous. And you're right, with whiny Hanley and Zambrano on the same team, the clubhouse is likely to be set on fire before the end of the season.

I can't believe Theo found someone to take Big Z (even though we are paying a huge amount of his salary)...

Miami sure is going to be interesting to watch this season..

Marlins: Guillen can get best out of Zambrano - MLB - Yahoo! Sports

Geez Cubs are paying $15.45 million of his contract. No wonder the Marlins agreed. LOL!

I wonder if the Angels paid $48 million of the remaining 3 year $63 million contract of Vernon Wells, would any team take him. LOL!

As part of the trade, the Marlins will pay $2.55 million of Zambrano’s $18 million salary this year. The Cubs are responsible for the rest but were willing to foot the bill because they weren’t optimistic relations with Zambrano could be patched up.

The Marlins are going to be very interesting to watch this year. I am sure they end up better than my Mets.
