The Cardinals announced a five-year, $75MM contract extension with catcher Yadier Molina this afternoon. The deal includes a no-trade clause and a mutual option for 2018 that's worth an additional $15MM. Molina is represented by Melvin Roman of MDR Sports Management.

Nope. They got a bargain. Molina is the best defensive catcher of his generation. Hes a genius behind the plate and calls a great game. The last few seasons he's improved his offensive numbers as well and become a clutch hitter. He very rarely strikes out, makes contact and hits to the opposite field really well.
