CHICAGO (AP) -- Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish was hit by a line drive during one All-Star game in Japan. He's hoping to avoid that mishap on Tuesday.

Darvish and St. Louis Cardinals third baseman David Freese are headed to the Midsummer Classic after fans voted them into next week's showcase in Kansas City.

I love the MLB All Star game, but I hate that the outcome determines home field advantage for the World Series. It also makes no sense to me that each team still has to be represented. I don't understand how fans should vote for starters and each team must have 1 player and the winning league is awarded the World Series advantage.
