  • Lakers Inch Closer To Spurs Despite Ejections

    Statement Win!

    Playoff Atmosphere!

Ejections on and off the court!

The Mavericks came into tonight's game only 0.5 games behind the Lakers for the 2nd seed in the Western Conference.

It was a big game for both teams since the winner would hold the tiebreaker if both teams tied at the end of the season with the same record. Plus both teams can still catch the struggling San Antonio Spurs, who lost their 5th in a row today.

Lamar Odom took over in the 2nd half. He finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Andrew Bynum had 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Kobe finished with 28 points.

Steve Blake, Matt Barnes and Shannon Brown were all ejected from tonight's game against the Dallas Mavericks. It all started when Jason Terry pushed Steve Blake to the floor after the refs blew their whistles. (Brendon Haywood & Jason Terry also ejected)

    Here's the incident:

I love that Matt Barnes stepped up for Blake. It might lead to a suspension for Barnes and Terry, but we'll have to wait until the NBA makes a decision. It will probably come sometime tomorrow before the Lakers face the Utah Jazz.

Mike Trudell got Barnes response about what happened with one of the Mavericks assistant coaches:
Barnes said he didn't realize that it was a coach who was bear-hugging him from behind. Said he was trying to get hands off him.
Shannon Brown was ejected a couple minutes later because he felt the Mavericks made a hard play against Pau Gasol and the game was already out of hand.

It doesn't help that Joey Crawford was handing out technical fouls all night. Fisher, Dirk, and Barea all received technical fouls for arguing.

For those wondering what happened when securtity had to escort a fan from the arena during one of Lamar Odom's free throws....

Here is what Mike Bresnahan is saying about the situation:
Apparently it was a partially naked woman who tried to rush the Mavericks' bench after the initial altercation between Lakers + Mavs. Crazy.
Box Score: Lakers 110 Mavericks 82

    Playoff Race Update:
8 games remaining in the season

Lakers are now just 2.5 games behind the San Antonio Spurs for 1st place in the Western Conference. Both teams play against each other on April 12th.

Mavericks are now 1.5 games behind the Lakers for 2nd place in the Western Conference.

Cheap shot by Jason Terry. He deserved to get tossed. I still dont know what Brendan Haywood did to get ejected. I was at the gym watching the game and couldnt hear what the announcers were saying about him.

I did see that Barnes was trying to break free and a Dallas Asst Coach I think lost his balance. I found it funny that Brian Cardinal was trying to guard Pau and then fouled him hard.
