  • Pacers Sign David West

Sign and trade with the Hornets and the Celtics. So is the NBA going to veto this trade too since it gives a powerhouse team like Boston the Hornet's second best player and they get a player who can barely move and is close to retirement. Where are the young players and draft picks in this trade David Stern???

Free-agent forward David West is nearing an agreement to join the Boston Celtics on a three-year deal that will pay him between $27 million and $29 million, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The Celtics are working to complete a sign-and-trade deal with the New Orleans Hornets, and are expected to include center Jermaine O’Neal and guard Sasha Pavlovic. The Hornets are believed to have a third team willing to take O’Neal, the veteran center.

The move would leave the Celtics without a true center, and West would likely play most of his minutes at power forward.

West, 31, tore his left anterior cruciate ligament late last season with the Hornets, but says his knee has recovered. He averaged 18.9 points and 7.6 rebounds in 70 games last season.

Lets be consistent now NBA, the Hornets do not need a washed up O'Neal!

Like the original CP3 trade where Demps was going to trade Scola/Odom for more assets after the deal was completed, supposedly he has a taker for Jermaine O'Neal. But doesnt that contradict what Stern did on Thursday night. He wants the Hornets to get younger players/draft picks now, not established players that could MAYBE be traded later for them.

Well David West is a free agent and is going to leave anyways. But I dont see how Stern can help another big market team (Boston) get the Hornet's second best player without getting something back in return that actually helps the team. Having to take back a $6 million injury prone Jermaine O'Neal and a journeymen in Sasha Pavlovic doesnt help the Hornets.

Unless the Celtics trade them a few 1st round draft picks/E’Twaun Moore/JaJuan Johnson, the NBA cant approve this trade because that would contradict their reasonings for rejecting the CP3 trade to the Lakers.

So much for this trade lol. Pacers got a good player, when healthy.

I guess the deal fell through and the league wouldnt approve it. David West is now heading to Indy for 2 years $20 million. Looks like the league doesnt want the Hornets to help any big market team. So explain again how CP3 is going to end up with the Clippers. LOL!
