  • 76ers Resign Spencer Hawes For 2 Years $13 Million

Spencer Hawes reaches agreement on two-year deal with Sixers - Yahoo! Sports

At least its only for 2 years. Considering the type of money centers usually get, at least Hawes is decent and put up good numbers.

Free-agent center Spencer Hawes has agreed to a two -year, $13.1 million contract extension with the Philadelphia 76ers, Hawes' agent, Greg Lawrence, told Yahoo! Sports.

Hawes, 24, helped the Sixers reached the Eastern Conference semifinals. Before an Achilles injury sidelined him midway through the season, Hawes was averaging 12 points and 12 rebounds to help fuel the Sixers' early season surge in the Atlantic Division. His resigning was one of the top offseason priorities of general manager Rod Thorn and coach Doug Collins.

The Milwaukee Bucks made a strong bid for Hawes, but he decided to return to the 76ers. The Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves and Portland Trail Blazers also showed interest.

Hawes averaged 9.6 points and career bests of 7.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists. He was the 10th overall pick to the Sacramento Kings in 2007, and came to the Sixers as part of a trade in 2010.
