  • Hawks Waive Deshawn Stevenson

    Y! SPORTS

The Atlanta Hawks continued to overhaul their roster on Friday when they waived DeShawn Stevenson, who started 31 games for the Hawks last season.

The Hawks rid themselves of Stevenson's $2.2 million contract.

He was replaced on the roster by DeMarre Carroll, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Carroll agreed to a two-year, $5 million contract on July 5. The delay in the signing was the result of salary cap issues.

Stevenson, who can play either the shooting guard or small forward positions, shot 36.4 percent from three-point distance last season, when he averaged just 5.1 points in 20.7 minutes per game.

He was limited by a knee injury.
