Josh McRoberts: Mavericks, Heat Reportedly Discussing Deal

As the Miami Heat continue to add to their roster, they also need to clear space in the salary cap.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Josh McRoberts is a prime candidate to be dealt in a salary dump, with the Dallas Mavericks interested.

Shams Charania of The Vertical reported a proposal to send the forward and a second-round pick in exchange for A.J. Hammons.

McRoberts is set to make just over $6 million in 2017-18 before he hits free agency next summer, per Spotrac.

The 30-year-old has spent the last three seasons in Miami, averaging just 4.1 points and 2.8 rebounds per game in this stretch. He appeared in just 22 games last season, starting 14.

Hammons is still yet to prove himself at the NBA level after being a second-round pick in 2016, but the 24-year-old appeared in 22 games for the Mavericks while spending a lot of his time in the D-League with the Texas Legends.

At the very least, this potential trade would give the Heat a player with upside while clearing some much-needed space in the payroll.
