  • Mavericks Sign Dwight Powell To 3 Years $33 Million

Mavericks and Dwight Powell officially agree to a 3 year, $33 million contract extension

Dwight Powell will be a Dallas Maverick for another few years, it seems.

Per the New York Times’ Marc Stein, the Mavericks and Powell agreed to a 3 year, $33 million contract extension that will take Powell’s tenure in Dallas through the 2022-23 season. Powell opted in to the final year of his current deal, which is worth about $10 million.

27 year old Powell has had a solid several seasons with the Mavericks, developing into a great rim-running big, which fits perfectly with what the Mavericks do on offense. He’s not afraid to shoot and can put the ball on the floor. He can also guard the perimeter better than Kristaps Porzingis, which will allow Porzingis to stay near the rim and block shots. His per-36 numbers last year were an eye-popping 17.7 points, 1 steal, 2.4 assists, 1.1 blocks and 8.9 rebounds.
