  • Nets Trade James Harden To Sixers For Ben Simmons

The Nets are trading James Harden and Paul Millsap to the 76ers for Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond and two first-round draft picks, the teams announced Thursday.

PHILADELPHIA -- The Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers agreed to a blockbuster trade just hours before Thursday's deadline, with James Harden and Paul Millsap going to Philadelphia and Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond and two first-round draft picks going to Brooklyn. Harden is picking up his $47.4MM player option for 2022/23 as part of the trade.

Brooklyn will receive Philadelphia's unprotected 2022 first-round pick, with the right to defer it to 2023, as well as a top-8-protected 2027 first-round pick, according to Wojnarowski. That pick would remain top-8 protected in 2028, and will turn into two second-round picks -- and $2 million in cash -- if it doesn't convey in either season.

The 32-year-old Los Angeles native made a seamless transition to the Nets, averaging 24.6 points, 10.9 assists, 8.5 rebounds and 2.7 threes while shooting 47.1 percent from the field in 36 games during the 2020-21 season.

Harden has added 22.5 points, 10.2 dimes and 8.0 boards per game in 44 appearances so far in the current campaign.

Simmons has not played in 2021–22, citing mental health concerns. He was selected with the No. 1 pick in the ’16 draft, and he earned three All-NBA selections in his first four seasons.
