Philadelphia 76ers waive Andrei Kirilenko - ESPN

The Philadelphia 76ers waived former All-Star swingman Andrei Kirilenko after they were unable to make use of his expiring contract in a trade before Thursday's leaguewide trade deadline.

Kirilenko never played a second for the Sixers, refusing to report to Philadelphia after it acquired him from the Brooklyn Nets in a money-saving trade with Brooklyn in mid-December.

The 33-year-old hasn't played in an NBA game since Nov. 13, falling out of Lionel Hollins' rotation with Brooklyn after enjoying a regular role under previous Nets coach Jason Kidd.

League sources said Saturday night that Kirilenko -- if he and his $3.3 million contract clear waivers as expected -- is eyeing a potential return to European basketball as opposed to resuming his NBA career. There are a handful of teams stateside still interested in pursuing him, sources say, but Kirilenko has not yet made it clear whether he's prepared to consider fresh NBA offers.
