  • Nuggets Sign Darrell Arthur To 3 Years $23 Million

Darrell Arthur will stay with Nuggets on a 3-year, $23 million contract, per report - SBNation.com

The Denver Nuggets will re-sign reserve big man Darrell Arthur on a three-year contract worth $23 million, according to Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post and The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski. Arthur has spent the last three seasons in Denver where he's carved out a role as a reserve big man and an active defensive presence in the front court.

Arthur appeared in 70 games last year for Denver, starting 16 of them. He averaged 7.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per game on 45.2 percent shooting from the floor. He's a consistent player and you always know what he'll bring off the bench.

As a 28-year-old, Arthur is veteran enough to mentor the younger big men who populate much of the Nuggets' front court but still young enough fit their timeline as they hope to start winning in the coming years. Given that the Nuggets weren't in play for any large free agents, and money is not a scarce commodity during these two coming offseasons, Arthur making just over $7 million per year is more than reasonable.
