The Atlanta Hawks waived veteran guard Jarrett Jack on Thursday in a surprising move given the depth behind Dennis Schröder at point guard.
The Hawks are down to really just Will Bynum and Josh Maggette as backups. But then, with Tiago Splitter's injury, the Hawks are also needing front-court depth, which could have impacted this decision.
Jack signed a one-year contract with the team this summer and apparently didn't see this move coming.
Jack tore his ACL last year with the Nets, and that's hard to come back from at age 32. Still, Jack is a decent backup point guard and shouldn't have a hard time finding another spot.
