Andre Iguodala returning to Golden State Warriors on 3-year, $48 million deal
Free-agent forward Andre Iguodala is returning to the Golden State Warriors on a three-year, $48 million deal, sources told ESPN's Chris Haynes and Adrian Wojnarowski.
Iguodala, 33, posted a tweet Saturday night that seemed to confirm the agreement. Sources say he was also mulling offers from the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs and Sacramento Kings.
It is believed that the Warriors upped their initial offer by a couple million and relinquished tagging a partial guarantee onto the third year of the deal.
The 2015 NBA Finals MVP, Iguodala has been a terrific two-way player since he was acquired by the Warriors via trade in 2013.
Despite just one start over the past three seasons, he has posted averages of 7.4 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 26.6 minutes. The 6-foot-6 swingman was a finalist for NBA Sixth Man of the Year this past season.
On July 1, the first day of the free-agency period, Iguodala met with San Antonio, Sacramento, Houston and the Los Angeles Lakers. He canceled a meeting with Philadelphia.
Iguodala holds career averages of 13.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.6 steals since he broke into the league as the ninth overall pick by the 76ers in the 2004 draft.
