The Buffalo Bills officially gave up on former first-round outside linebacker Aaron Maybin, waiving him from the roster today.
The former Penn State star recorded 24 tackles in two NFL seasons and zero sacks. The press release announcing him being cut was approximately a dozen words.
The former Big Ten Conference Defensive Player of the Year reported to training camp at a slim 6-foot-4, 228 pounds.
That's much too light to bull-rush offensive tackles.
And Maybin, who's likely to draw interest from other NFL teams, is also a non-factor in pass coverage.
Before training camp, Maybin told Scout at a football camp in Woodlawn, Md., that things would be different.
"I'm going to prove all the doubters wrong," Maybin said. "I know what people have been saying about me, calling me a bust, and that just motivates me. That gives me fuel. I don't care what the critic say. I just want my teammates and coaches to believe in me. That's all that matters."
