I bet AJ SMITH is cowering in a corner somewhere with a bottle of whiskey ......got rid of drew brees (nfl single season passing yards record holder), got rid of LT (single season Rushing TD mark)......along with michael turner. all the while he watches as his pathetic chargers team putters out of importance.

I thought at the end he might not break the record until next week. Glad he got it done though

              Drew Brees Sets Yards Record

Brees sets passing mark, Saints top Falcons 45-16 - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

Drew Brees set the NFL record for yards passing in a season, breaking a mark that Dan Marino had held for nearly three decades, and New Orleans clinched the NFC South title with a 45-16 victory over the Falcons.

Brees threw for 307 yards and four touchdowns, the last a 9-yard strike to Darren Sproles that set the record with 2:51 to go. It was Brees’ final pass of the game and it gave him 5,087 yards passing— with one game still to play. Marino finished with 5,084 yards for the Miami Dolphins in 1984.

                Still IMO-

                Marino > Brees

Considering the rules changes this was bound to happen

also Marino=564 passing attempts to Brees=622

The question is Tom Brady is only 190 yards back, so do you play Brees or not? The other question is that they both start there games at 1:00 pm EST, Brady at home in New England and Brees at home in New Orleans, I think I would start Brees and watch the scoreboard or get the results from Foxboro. Brady has the Bills and Brees has the Panthers, both Pats and Saints should win but who knows what will happen, been a crazy year in the NFL.

It's one season... however I think the only stat that counts is...

                      Marino - (0) Rings

                      Bress - 1 RING

to be fair though.. Marino played when Montana was at his best...

Brees has played when Manning/Favre and now Rodgers are INSANELY good

I still think Marino is better than Brees... but the gap is getting smaller and smaller

Brees wouldn't have his ring, if Favre would have not had flashbacks and tried to throw the dang ball threw 2 people. He should have ran it, or fallen down, or thrown it 50 yards out of bounds.

and Marino WOULD have a ring if Joe Montana would have pulled a Favre before Favre

I would play him since they are still trying for the #2 seed in the NFC. Plus Brady would pass him up next week if he sat down haha

Marino in todays NFL would have had a field day.. They are not even close talent wise
